- * Onyx is very easily scratched if not handled with care. Once polished (commercial Jewelry Polish is fine), the piece should be washed with hot water and dried with a soft cloth. A drop of olive oil can really expose and develop the beautiful light of the stone. Rinse with water to clean dirt, but don't soak the stone because it can fade the color.
